Service Information for Schools
A flexible and bespoke high quality service is offered, enabling schools to purchase effective Speech and Language Therapy provision that meets their individual needs. Schools can choose whether to purchase regular contracted school visits or ad hoc assessment and therapy services as required.A regular service to schools could be:
- Specifically tailored to meet the individual needs of the school
- Half a day or a full day per week
- Agreed on a term-by-term basis with no obligation for a yearly contract
- A service for the whole school, with the potential to benefit any child and all staff. I have no fixed restrictive guidelines regarding which children I will and won't support (although I will always apply and share my clinical judgement with you)
Time in school could be used to provide SLCN support at a universal, targeted or specialist level as required by the individual school. This could include:
- Whole intake screening for SLCN (eg. Year R, Year 7)
- Detailed initial and review assessment for individual children
- Direct individual / group therapy
- Indirect individual / group therapy
- Whole class/school support to create and maintain a communication friendly environment for all
- Support regarding SLCN-specific curriculum differentiation, target setting and sharing of useful practical strategies to support lesson access - enhancing inclusive Quality First Teaching
- Involvement in lesson planning/delivery
- Involvement in review, IEP, multi-agency meetings
- Liaison with school staff and parents
- Staff training
- Parent training
- Mondays
- Tuesdays
- Wednesday mornings
